What I do at Q2Q:

As development consultant, I’m one of the techies here at Q2Q. I’m responsible for managing the SQL databases and reports – for both our clients and the in-house team. This often includes automating repetitive tasks to provide more accurate and efficient workflows for our customers.

Day to day, you’ll also find me completing other technical tasks such as providing quick, accurate data feeds, macros and reports for our users – via Excel and Word – plus helping out on data integration projects.

Simply put, I optimise processes to ensure our clients are getting the most out of their IT infrastructure!

Background and Achievements

I played trumpet from the age of five, with the aim of being professional. But after my first year at university, I got headaches within seconds of starting to play and no one could find the answer.

I was therefore forced to change my career path and find a job. I started work in an office using spreadsheets to report on data for customers and took to it like a duck to water. In time, this led me to my current job at Q2Q!

After getting the position, I set off on a steep, self-teaching curve, and found I was a natural at working with computers.

For me, my greatest achievement is having my three kids, who have now all flown the nest, and I’m so proud of them all.

Hobbies and Interests

My biggest hobby is music – either performing, listening or composing – as I play both double bass and piano. I also enjoy going for long walks in the great outdoors.

Genuinely none

I enjoy remote locations, especially in Scotland – somewhere away from technology

I can listen to a short piece of music once and play it back.

Playing double bass, listening to music and watching The Muppets

I can’t pick just one, I enjoy a vast range of music!
