If you have shopped around for IT support lately, you have probably been handed the same tidy story: there are two kinds of provider to choose from.

On one side, the big national names. Plenty of resource, slick websites, and a helpdesk somewhere you will never visit. Or maybe these big players are relatively local, but they consist of many smaller businesses that have been acquired over time and blended into a “not so local” bigger player, where you are still more of a number than a partner, and the service doesn’t feel personal as you’ll be passed around a large bank of techies. On the other, there’s the one or two-person outfit run from a spare room. Often brilliant, right up until they are on holiday, off sick, or simply stretched too thin.

It is a neat way to tell the story. It also leaves out the bit that matters most.

Because there is a third option, and it is the one we have quietly been building for the last 22 years. An established, genuinely local team. Big enough to be there when you need us, small enough to know your name, your systems, and probably your dog’s name too.

Local should mean local

“Local” gets used pretty loosely these days. A national provider opens an office in the region, adds a Lancashire postcode to the website, and suddenly everyone is “local.”

We think it should mean something simpler. The team looking after your IT should actually be down the road. When something needs a person on site, a person turns up, and it is a face you recognise. We are based at Fraser House in Lancaster, we look after businesses across Lancaster, Preston and the wider North West, and we are not going anywhere.

A team, not a hero

The worry with a very small provider is rarely the person. It is usually a genuinely good person. The worry is what happens when that one person is unavailable, or when your business grows faster than they can keep up with.

With Q2Q you get a whole team. Engineers, a friendly account you can actually speak to, and cover that does not fall over the moment someone takes a well-earned week off. You get the personal service of a small firm with the reliability of a large one. No single point of failure, and no “sorry, he’s the only one who knows how that works.”

Here for the long haul

Twenty-two years is a long time in IT. We have watched client’s businesses grow, move premises, weather a pandemic, and come out the other side. Through all of it, many of the same team has been on the end of the phone.

That continuity is worth more than it sounds. The people who set up your systems are the people who still look after them, and help you develop those systems as your business changes and grows. Nobody is quietly handing your account to a stranger every time an org chart changes.

So how do you choose?

If you are weighing up IT providers, a handful of honest questions cut straight through the sales talk:

  • Will the same team still be here in five years?
  • If I need someone on site, how far away are they, really?
  • Is there more than one person who understands my setup?
  • Do they talk to me like a partner, or like a ticket number?

Get straight answers to those, and the right choice tends to make itself.

We are not the biggest name in the North West, and we are perfectly happy about that. We would rather be the team that knows your business, answers the phone, and quietly keeps everything running so you can get on with your day.

We take IT seriously. We just don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We do IT, so you don’t have to. If you fancy a chat about yours, you know where we are.
