THIRD LINE ENGINEER
What I do at Q2Q:
I’m a Senior Support Engineer here at Q2Q, I help look after escalation tickets, critical tickets, projects and often a bit of code 😉
Background and Achievements
Growing up I was always around IT due to my old man being in the industry. At 7 years old, I built my first website (I cheated and used Word to convert to HTML!). This was my ‘gateway’ into straight coding and by 18 I had become fluent in HTML, PHP, CSS, SQL, C++, C#, Java, Javascript and various other languages as a bit of a hobbyist. I’ve been the lead developer on various Indie games and bespoke business applications because of this, finding myself up at 1AM telling myself, “I’ll do one more line of code” (It’s never one more line of code).
Over the years, I’ve found a real passion in working with servers and the Azure environment, getting involved in numerous data migrations into SharePoint, Mail migrations from on-prem exchange into 365, migrations from on-prem business solutions into hybrid or full cloud solutions the list honestly goes on.
I spent a few years as the IT manager for a couple of businesses but really missed getting into the nitty gritty side of getting stuck into a troubleshooting session, so I stepped back to surround myself in what I’m passionate about, the technology and how to fix it when it inevitably goes wrong!
Hobbies and Interests
Hobbies? Cycling! Cycling, cycling and cycling! Joking aside… Aside from cycling, I’d say I probably enjoy…Cycling? Ok, I promise, that’s the last time I’ll say it! I also enjoy coding, setting myself little “could I build that with code?” projects at home. I really enjoy guitar, drawing, Dungeons & Dragons (But only when the dice isn’t rolling a 1) and the occasional game on PC (PC Master race! 😉)
