New Horizons – Armistead Barnett Office Move
After 27 years in their long-standing Garstang office, the team moved to their stunning new premises in Nateby as part of their continued growth plans. But this was far more than simply moving desks and screens.
With four sites relying on their central servers and network infrastructure every day, even a short period of downtime could have disrupted multiple offices and impacted productivity across the wider business.
At Q2Q, we work as strategic partners from the earliest planning stages, not just as an IT support team called in at the last minute.
Our Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Ash, led the project from day one, managing everything from connectivity planning through to the full infrastructure migration.
One of the biggest challenges was internet connectivity. The rural location made this especially difficult, yet despite neighbouring businesses believing a leased line wasn’t possible, we successfully secured one, giving the new office the resilient connectivity the business needed from day one.
The most critical stage came on Friday evening.
At 5pm, the servers that underpin all four offices were shut down, transported, and migrated to the new site. By 9am on Saturday, everything had to be fully operational again so the wider business could continue working without interruption.
Over the course of the weekend, the team also installed brand-new Wi-Fi access points, switches, firewalls, desk setups, meeting room technology, display screens, and fully user-ready workstations throughout the new office.
By Monday morning, the Armitstead Barnett team walked into a fully functioning workspace, however we still had a member of the Q2Q team on hand just in case there were any small snags, and to assist the users settling into their new setup from the IT side of things.
No downtime. No disruption. No Monday morning panic.
Just a seamless transition into a modern office space built for the next stage of their growth.
For businesses planning an office move, the technology should never be the reason productivity stalls.
With the right planning, communication, and hands-on delivery, moving office can feel like business as usual from the moment your team walks through the door.
